    Superbowl MCMLXXXVIDCXRVLMM

Today is that special day of the year where I pretend to like football and watch the game.  Before I was married, I would go to superbowl parties and end up talking to the women in the kitchen, because I could never get into the game.  Jenny isn't that into it either, so we're going to watch the commercials together with the kids.

Hopefully Janet Jackson (or someone younger and hotter) will take her shirt off again like a few years ago.  I don't understand why people get so excited about stuff like this, but I guess it's something to do.  I always think of this article when I'm around people who get too wrapped up in sports.

(And I also hate people who talk about how they are too sensitive or intelligent to like sports...I'm not skipping it because I want to read Proust and write poetry in the corner, I just don't get into it, it doesn't mean that I am a better person for it).

(There are lots of OTHER reasons that I'm a better person than everyone else, this just isn't one of them :-D)

I remember vividly the year of Justin and Janet and her 'wardrobe malfunction' (I think that should be added to that banned words thing.)  I remember hubby and I both standing in front of the tv, stopping to watch the halftime entertainment (because for me, the HT entertainment and the commercials are what it's all about) and all of a sudden POW! There it was!  Holy cow.  Simultaneous jaw dropping.  Then we were looking around--speechless--hoping the kids were nowhere around.  We looked at each other and said, did we really just see what we thought we saw??  LOL.  A very memorable moment indeed!

I don't think I have ever been able to sit through a football game.  It is just not my game either.  My one friend always laughs about all these superbowl freaks get so angry if they don't get their party or their time off for the party.  I have a feeling many more people like the party not so much the game.

I don't really care about the game - but like others, I do like to keep my eyes open for a good commercial.  This year, you have the bonus of being able to watch MLE Chowdown at halftime.  That will be sweet.  The Turkey Bowl (Thanksgiving) was unbelievable.  You should have seen them put away the cranberry sauce... it was almost unwatchable.

You made me laugh again. I especially liked the last line of your post.
Jim and I were watching the day that Janet bared her ****.
I did kind of get a little bit excited when Illinois went to the Rose Bowl.  I watched the game in Jim's honor and even though I couldn't understand the game I could tell they were not playing worth a darn.  So much for football.  I guess I am just 'too sensitive or intelligent' to understand it.
